Coton’s Conundrum

Five races into the season might seem premature to discuss Driver Movements but since everything in F1 changes so quickly and also as driver contracts are not carved in stone, it is never too early to start debating the topic.

This assessment looks at current drivers, their likely movements for 2013, potential “re-entries” and likely 2013 F1 rookies. Driver who are unlikely to change teams are assigned a RED. Drivers likely to move, might be replaced or are at the end of their contracts are assigned AMBER and those who are guaranteed to move or are likely to retire are GREEN.

Also, this might highlight how difficult Didier Coton‘s (Hamilton’s manager) decision is; in terms of advising him to stay or leave his current team.

So 38 drivers for 24 available seats.  Or since 11 drivers are considered non-movers, there are 27 drivers vying for 13 seats in 2013. It is certainly going to be another interesting year of F1 musical chairs.

Do you think some of the Potential Re-entries have no hope against the Up-and-Coming rookies or do you think the grid will remain unchanged next year? Please leave a comment.
